Footy WAG Georgia Stirton has a hilarious four-word reaction when her AFL superstar partner Toby Greene proposes

  • GWS star has been with his partner since 2020
  • They met after a challenging year for Greene
  • The new mother proposal came out of the blue

It can be difficult to determine whether GWS star Toby Greene means it or not. Just ask his fiancée Georgia Stirton.

The couple were on holiday after the AFL season when the GWS Giants star recently popped the question romantically.

He decorated an oceanfront patio with hearts made of petals and got down on one knee with their child before unveiling the ring.

The problem? Georgia didn’t know if it was real or another Greene mistake.

“Apparently not a joke,” she posted when she realized the proposal was legit, along with a video of Greene popping the question.

“Just be thankful there’s no audio because all I said was ‘what the f’ like 20 times,” Stirton added in another comment.

Greene started dating his glamorous former schoolmate in 2020 after a torrid 2019 that included a major final loss and the imprisonment of his estranged father.

Georgia also has an impressive sporting resume, having been recruited by American college giant Gonzaga to play basketball in the NCAA tournament in 2015.

She studied her degree in education at university while playing for the NCAA side before returning to Australia in 2016.

While Greene can sometimes be the pantomime villain on the pitch, the pair’s big announcement showed he is much loved by his contemporaries off it.

‘Unbelievable. Congratulations guys,” Geelong champion Jeremy Cameron posted on their engagement video.

“Unreal guys,” Tim Taranto added with a heart emoji.

“Let’s really go!” teammate Connor Idun posted.

“It’s about time,” the GWS social media team added.

And Collingwood star Tom Mitchell simply replied with a string of hearts.

The post was also liked by a host of AFL stars from GWS and across the league, with Brad Hill, Adam Treloar, Isaac Heeney and even NRL star Angus Crichton congratulating the couple.

Greene shared the news on social media at the time, calling his daughter Isla his “new best friend.”

“I’ll make a lot of calls to my mom and friends who have had babies and just go from there,” he said.

“I don’t think I’ve thought about it too much, I’m just absorbing it. When it does happen, I’m sure it will be a big shock to the system.

“(Life) will be a little bit harder, but a lot of guys have done it during my time in the AFL.

“It’s something you have to deal with, you may lose a few hours of sleep here and there, but that’s OK.

‘I’ve done a full pre-season so the body is good to go. It’s just a matter of me managing if I have to, and I’m sure Georgia will be super accommodating as well. She’ll be a great mother.’
