Footy star’s glamourous girlfriend’s cheeky Christmas couples snap goes viral online

Isaac Heeney and his partner Steffi Waters have gone viral in recent days after the Sydney Swans star’s girlfriend shared a cheeky photo of the couple on her Instagram.

The 28-year-old, who received 28 votes in this year’s Brownlow Medal, enjoyed an excellent season with the Swans despite being taken off with an injury in their painful AFL Grand Final defeat to the Lions.

Although it was a bitter pill to swallow for the gun, who plundered above-average stats this season, it seems the Bloods star has been enjoying the off-season and the festive period with his family.

Waters, who has 14,300 followers on Instagram, took to the social media platform to share a cheeky photo of the couple wearing matching Christmas sweaters.

The pair smiled, with Heeney’s top reading ‘Official stocking stuffer’, while Waters’ shirt read: ‘I am the stocking stuffer.’

Fans were stunned by their attire, with one writing: ‘Omg the jumper!’

“The best sweaters,” said another.

Heeney has made 24 appearances in the AFL this season, scoring 34 goals from midfield.

He was also a strong contender for the title of the year following his miraculous catch during the Swans’ victory over rivals GWS.

Heeney later admitted that he had played this year’s finals series with a stress fracture in his foot.

“Well, I went into it with a good feeling,” he told 7News.

“Obviously I battled with that all the way through the finals, and I felt like I had a pretty good finals campaign leading into the grand final.

“And it came in that game, I actually felt okay.

‘I was quite sore after the Port (preliminary final), but I did everything I could all week and went into the match feeling good, and certainly good enough to play and play well.

“And then, yeah, halfway through the first quarter I got tackled and hit from behind, and it just fell under me.

‘And that made it worse and worse throughout the match. And then, yes, … at the beginning of the last quarter I clearly couldn’t run.

“And I tried to (run), I kept going, and they pulled me right off, and I just couldn’t run.

‘So in retrospect that’s a great thing and if I knew I was going to be tackled in that position then absolutely no (I wouldn’t have played).

“But when I got into it, I felt comfortable enough to act and play a really good role, but obviously it didn’t work out that way.”

He later talked about how much the grand final defeat to the Lions devastated his team.

After such an excellent season, the Swans would be defeated 120-60 by Brisbane, with Heeney admitting he had never been so hurt by defeat.

“That’s absolutely true,” he told Channel 7.

‘It was tough. I’ve probably never felt the impact of a loss like I did in that grand final. I rode it pretty hard, and it took its toll a bit.

“So it was fun to come in (and watch it) and it was quite confronting, but at the same time it was something we had to do to get over it.”
