NRL star Josh Addo-Carr has posted his support for the Palestinians amid the growing conflict between Israel and Hamas, linking their struggle to that of Indigenous Australians.
The militant group Hamas – designated as a terrorist organization by Australia – fired at least 3,500 rockets into Israel before gunmen stormed cities and killed, wounded and captured civilians during a major Jewish holiday on Saturday.
In response, Israel’s military said on Monday it struck more than 500 targets in the Gaza Strip in overnight retaliatory strikes in the impoverished and besieged Gaza Strip, an enclave of 2.3 million people.
Officials there reported at least 413 Palestinian deaths.
Addo-Carr took to Instagram on Tuesday morning to show his support for Palestine and connect their struggle with that of Indigenous Australians.

Addo-Carr linked the Palestinian struggle to the plight of Indigenous Australians in an Instagram post on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs star shared an image of the indigenous flag next to the Palestinian flag alongside the caption, “A WAR A WAR”.
Below the indigenous flag are the words ‘LAND BACK’ and the logo of the Black Union (BPU), accompanied by Arabic script.
The BPU is a ‘self-described revolutionary organization that aims to empower Indigenous people in Australia through the pursuit of self-determination and full sovereignty’.
In no way does Daily Mail Australia infer that Addo-Carr supports the shocking attack by Hamas on Saturday morning.
Addo-Carr’s post comes just days after the great Sonny Bill Williams shared and liked a post saying the Hamas militants who attacked Israel should be called freedom fighters instead of terrorists.

It earned him a furious cop-out from radio star Ray Hadley, who said the former NRL and All Blacks star should be sacked from Channel Nine for his stance.
Addo-Carr is a proud Indigenous player who has never shied away from showing support for his culture, even when it has led to him being attacked online.
In 2022, he was subjected to a barrage of shocking racial abuse from an internet troll after uploading a family photo on Australia Day.
Addo-Carr shared a picture of himself with his daughter and young son, all dressed in T-shirts emblazoned with the Aboriginal flag.
Addo-Carr has faced criticism from some footy fans for his views and has been racially attacked by online trolls
“Happy Survival Day #mypeoplemypeople,” he wrote in the photo.
In the same year Addo-Carr was named captain of the Indigenous All Stars team for their match against the Maori All Stars.
Addo-Carr told the media at the time how proud he was to be leading his indigenous teammates.
“I never in a million years thought I’d be captain, especially on your cultural side,” he said.
“I’ve always been inspired to be a player, but to be captain and lead the boys out, you can’t explain the feeling.
