AFL star Jordan De Goey is in mourning following the death of his beloved grandmother Elisabeth, who lost her battle with cancer this week.
Collingwood's premiership player took to Instagram after the news broke, with the words 'I will cherish this moment forever' and 'RIP Grandma'.
It was accompanied by a photo of the pair taken at the MCG shortly after the Magpies defeated the Brisbane Lions in this year's AFL grand final.
De Goey, 27, dedicated his premiership medal to Elisabeth and said celebrating with his family – parents Roger and Lee were also in the barn with him – was the highlight of his life.

The Magpies star scored two crucial goals in the grand final – the last match his beloved 'Grandma' would see him play
“Unfortunately she has terminal cancer, so this will be her last match,” he said at the time.
“It means the world to me that she's here.”
The midfielder scored two goals as the Magpies secured a record-equalling 16th premiership – and was then embroiled in emotional scenes in the dressing rooms.
De Goey was captured on video placing his premiership medal around his grandmother's neck after asking her, “Do you want it?”, then calling for someone to take a photo as a beaming Elisabeth bit into the metal as if she was testing to see if it was real. .
The victory was especially nice for De Goey, after the way he turned his career around after getting into trouble off the field in the past two years.

He overcame those dramas to sign a five-year extension with Collingwood last September after rejecting a major offer from St Kilda.
“It's obviously a bit of a stressful time, but deep in my heart I always wanted to stay with the Pies,” he said at the time.
“They just created this family culture and I really thrive on that, as do a lot of the other guys.”
