- Andrew Fifita faces criticism over social media post
- Ex-NRL star, 35, accused two grassroots clubs of racism
- Fifita plays for Woy Woy Roosters on the NSW Central Coast
NRL star Andrew Fifita has been forced to remove a polarising social media post after he accused two New South Wales Central South Wales football clubs of racism.
Fifita, 35, who won the NRL premiership with the Sharks in 2016, plays park footy for the Woy Woy Roosters and is the competition’s highest-profile player.
The decorated prop has come under fire after claims were made on Instagram that the Terrigal Sharks and Erina Eagles were ‘supporting racism’ by forfeiting recent matches against Woy Woy.
“Stand up, speak out and support us. No one should have to go through this,” Fifita posted.
‘Terrigal Sharks and Erina Eagles, thanks for the points, but not for supporting racism. Some clubs refuse to let us play because we refuse to be bystanders.
‘Toukley Hawks, let’s see what you guys are going to do next week. Blak [sic]Loud and proud.’
Fifita was ordered to remove the post by the NSWRL and the Rugby League Central Coast board after they pointed out the code’s policies and procedures.
Terrigal and Erina would not play Woy Woy because they were concerned about the safety of their fans, according to News Corp.

As the situation continues to escalate, Woy Woy claim their players and fans have been racially abused by rival supporters this season.
However, Terrigal and Erina have rejected the accusations of racism.
Fifita will reportedly face no further sanctions after deleting his Instagram post on Wednesday.
This Sunday Woy Woy will play against Toukley, but it is still questionable whether the match will go ahead.
Last weekend, Fifita and his teammates faced the Dora Creek Swampies, with the Roosters taking a knee prior to the game after being accused of racial abuse this season.
The ugly drama began last month, when Fifita allegedly received a series of racist comments via social media.
They would have labeled Fifita a ‘fat, old, lazy, weak, black, stinking a.. dog’ and a c..t.’
