Emergency services, including police, arrived at the site at 5.30pm after hearing that a man had collapsed.
A police statement said: ‘Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District and paramedics from NSW Ambulance attended and treated the 31-year-old man. He was taken to Maitland Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Tuesday’s tragic incident follows another heartbreaking loss for the club, with front rower Brodie Pearson passing away last June.
He was injured in a tackle during a match at Fingal Bay. The father was only 27 years old.
“As we lay down our number 8 jerseys for the remainder of the season in your honor, we remember you as a friend, a brother, a father and simply one of the kindest souls of our club,” the Ants said in the aftermath of his death.
Aberglaslyn has yet to make a statement regarding Tuesday’s incident.
