AFL great Matthew Richardson has sent footy fans into hysterics by sharing hilarious footage of himself falling into his backyard pool while doing housework recently.
The Richmond icon posted the vision from his security camera to Instagram, along with the caption: “How’s your day going? My grouse thanks me for asking, accompanied by a facepalm emoji.
The footage shows Richardson walking around the pool, scooping leaves from the water with a net before losing his balance as he turns a corner and ends up in the drink.

‘Richo’ (pictured with his wife Genevieve Holiday at this year’s Australian Football Hall of Fame ceremony) saw the lighter side of his embarrassing misstep
The embarrassing incident was a hit with football fans, who left dozens of crying emojis in their comments.
‘Mate! That’s the best!!’ wrote one.
‘Don’t know what’s funnier. Falling into the pool or using that great word ‘grouse’… isn’t used enough these days,” said another.
Other comments included “Definitely a push there,” “I’m watching on repeat,” “Ahhh Richy made my day,” and “I hope you had a nice trip?” See you next fall’.
Richardson gave his followers something else to smile about when he posted the footage to spelled.
“You made a clanger post about your clanger,” someone commented.
‘Pretty special to also make a clanger in spelling clangers… that’s a gift,’ adds another.

Several commentators also compared the incident to Australian cricket star Alex Carey falling into a swimming pool at the team’s hotel in Pakistan during a 2022 tour.
Images of Richardson enjoying some time off also brought the Tigers legend some grief earlier this year when he was plagued by his lack of golfing talent.
Two-time Majors champion and former world number 2 Bubba Watson was in Adelaide for a LIV Golf event when he was invited to assess Richardson’s golf swing.
Watson was shown a video of Richardson missing the ball on a drive attempt and was asked for tips on how to improve Richardson’s technique.
“Oh wow,” Watson replies.
“Where did he go wrong?” asked Channel Seven presenter James Brayshaw.
“He missed the ball, that’s first and foremost,” replied the 45-year-old American.
“But man, he looks athletic getting ready for it.”
“The setup is good, Bubba,” you hear Richo say in the background with a big smile on his face.
“The intent was there,” Watson agreed. “It looked like the ball was going to go for miles.
“And then it didn’t go anywhere.”
In March, ‘Richo’ clashed with his new Seven colleague Kane Cornes over what should have been a light-hearted sledge aimed at Richmond premiership winner Trent Cotchin.
Cornes joked about Cotchin’s performance and delivery in a segment on rival network Nine’s Sunday Footy Show, using a monotone delivery intended to mimic the former Richmond skipper.
Richardson was not happy about it and also blamed Cornes for trying to get Geelong new Seven analyst Joel Selwood.
‘Making fun of two AFL premiership captains. The bar keeps getting lower,” Richardson wrote on social media.
