Billy Slater spent Sunday with a host of celebrities including Royal Olympian Zara Tindall and Argentine polo star Nacho Figueras at the Magic Millions Showjumping and Polo Day.

The ex-NRL star and Queensland State of Origin coach teamed up with Tindall and Australian polo star Ruki Ballieau for the famous polo match against Figueras, his model wife Delfina Blaquier and Rob Archibald of the Australian team.

Figueres had been good-naturedly sledding with Slater during the week and making fun of his boots.

“Billy has a new pair of polo boots,” Figueras said News Corp.

'Hopefully that will help here in the match on Sunday. But I do not think so.'

“I have no comment,” Slater replied. 'Actions rather than words.'

Tindall scored the opening point on Sunday, but the stylish Argentine side made a late comeback to take victory.

At one point during the match, it looked like Figueras was going to be thrown from his horse as spectators looked on in shock.

However, Nacho did the seemingly impossible and managed to get himself back on his saddle to continue the game.

Nacho – real name Ignacio Figueras Bermejo – landed in Australia on Thursday for the Magic Millions show with his wife and their daughter Alba.

He has made headlines in recent years for his close friendship with Prince Harry.

The recent storms did not keep the crowds away from the Gold Coast event as thousands turned out to watch the country's best equine athletes compete.

Hollywood star Elsa Pataky flew home from a family ski holiday with husband Chris Hemsworth to attend the event as a Magic Millions ambassador.

Katie Page, co-owner of Magic Millions, emphasized how important the event was to the economy, especially in light of recent storm damage.

“January is the prime time for tourism in this state and doing this for 10 days shows people nationally and internationally that we are open for business,” she said. News Corp.

“People who watch our events in other states or internationally will also watch this year and decide to come next year,” she said.
