Surfing legend Mick Fanning certainly enjoyed Penrith’s dramatic NRL grand final win over Brisbane, with fans claiming the Australian hero had had a few too many beers in Sydney.
Fanning, a Panthers tragic, was on hand at the Accor Stadium for his team’s incredible second-half comeback against the Broncos, which saw them overturn a 16-point deficit thanks to the heroics of Nathan Cleary.
The 42-year-old celebrated on the pitch with the players after the final whistle and appeared slightly worse for wear as he spoke to Channel 9’s Alanna Ferguson.
“This is the best thing that ever happened,” he said. “Oh my god, it’s so amazing, look at it.”
When asked about his thoughts on Cleary, Fanning said, “Are you kidding me? He is the greatest athlete on earth. Serious. Swear to God. Greatest athlete on earth. He went completely crazy for the last ten minutes.
