Footy fan who invaded the pitch during an AFL game makes an incredible boast outside court when he’s asked if he’s an IDIOT
- Julian Saginario has avoided a conviction in the Adelaide court
- Play was stopped when he invaded Adelaide Oval during the AFL match
- Was contrite to a judge, but not to a reporter
A footy fan who stormed the field during an AFL match branded himself a “legend” after leaving the court on Wednesday.
Julian Saginario, 22, argued in the Adelaide Magistrate Court that his actions on March 22 were the result of being drunk and also “being egged on by friends”.
“It was out of character for me because I don’t really do anything like that, I don’t have a bad history,” he told magistrate Justin Wickens.
The part-time warehouse worker was spared a conviction on Wednesday, but was given a lifetime ban from attending AFL and AFLW matches.
He was also fined $1080 and ordered to pay court costs and fees totaling a further $1000.

Crows star Ben Keays knocked Saginario to the ground as he ran into Adelaide Oval during his team’s match against Geelong (pictured)
Off court, Saginario was anything but contrite.
When asked by a reporter if he was an idiot for his behavior at Adelaide Oval, Saginarion bizarrely replied: “I’m a legend.”
On the night in question, Adelaide Crows midfielder Matt Crouch grabbed Saginario after he stopped play.
Crouch held him by the sleeve of his shirt for a moment before Saginario managed to free himself.
Saginario then ran freely around a pack of Adelaide and Geelong players towards Crows star Ben Keays, who knocked the 22-year-old to the ground before security struck.
That’s when Geelong star Jeremy Cameron showed his funny side, stretching his arms out to the sides of his body in the same motion as a referee holding the ball.

Eagle-eyed fans loved it, with many quick to praise the ‘hilarious’ Cameron on social media for trolling Saginario.
The incident follows another pitch invader – who is a close friend of Collingwood star Brayden Maynard – who was this week banned for life from the AFL.
Conor Clarke, brother of Western Bulldogs player Charlie Clarke, ran onto the field during the Pies’ epic comeback win over North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium.
As a result, Clarke will now no longer be able to watch his brother or Maynard play live.
