Footage has surfaced of crowds of violence during the AFL match between the Carlton Blues and Brisbane Lions at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
Channel Nine shared the vision, including the moment a young football fan punches another fan in the head.
In the footage, a man in glasses confronts a group of younger supporters in a bay holding a large Carlton banner.
One of the young men gets up and makes contact with the man in glasses, prompting him to give the younger fan a shove.
The situation escalates when one of the young men punches the man in the face and knocks his glasses off his head to the horror of the crowd.
Another member of the group then leans in and taunts the stricken man.
A woman standing next to the injured man begged the younger man to stop.
It is not known what prompted the incident and what was said between the parties.
Victoria Police told the Daily Mail Australia that the young man who struck the blow is likely to face charges.
“Police responded to reports of an altercation at a Marvel Stadium in Docklands on May 5,” a police spokeswoman said.
“It is clear that a man was attacked by another man shortly before 10 p.m. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
“A man was approached at the scene and is expected to be charged with assault charges.”

In another incident, a woman is being treated at Royal Melbourne Hospital after falling from the second row of seats at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
The incident took place before the match had started and the woman is said to have fallen on the side of the Brisbane Lions supporters.

“She is conscious and being attended to by Marvel Stadium staff at this time. Some calls may have dropped from the second floor to the seats on the other side of the floor. We hope she is well.”
A spokeswoman for Ambulance Victoria told news.com.au on Saturday that the woman was in stable condition in hospital.
“Just after 6 p.m. last night, paramedics were called to a report of a fall,” the spokeswoman said.
“A woman was treated for lower body injuries and was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in stable condition.”
