- Spectator caught simulating sex acts during NRL match
- Ronaldo Mulitalo was not fooled by it
- Sharks prevailed 22-12 against the Broncos
TV cameras captured footage of an NRL fan appearing to simulate a sex act as the Sharks ran against the Broncos on Saturday night – but one Cronulla star had the last laugh.
The spectator was hard to miss on the Fox Sports cameras during the broadcaster’s coverage of the Sharks-Broncos clash at Suncorp Stadium.
The Sharks, led by Ronaldo Mulitalo playing his 100th NRL match, ran past the fan onto the pitch to make a statement and cement their premiership credentials.
The clip quickly went viral on social media and was seen by many thousands of people.
Ronaldo Mulitalo and the Cronulla Sharks shocked the Broncos on Saturday night
After the game was over and the Sharks defeated the Broncos 22-12, Mulitalo turned to X to comment on the matter.
“This is someone’s dad lol,” he posted.
Fans loved the winger’s reaction, which led to more than a thousand likes and many messages of support.
Meanwhile, Cronulla center Jesse Ramien says he is ready for a State of Origin debut after sending NSW coach Michael Maguire a compelling message with a tough and stellar performance against Brisbane.
Ramien made 190 meters from 20 willing runs in the 22-12 victory on Saturday evening, adding to his already strong list of dynamic performances in 2024.
The 27-year-old is in the mix to replace suspended Blues center Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii in game two of the Origin Series in Melbourne on June 26.
South Sydney’s Latrell Mitchell and Newcastle’s Bradman Best, who returns from a hamstring injury in Round 15 against Penrith, are two of his main competitors.
“It would be a dream come true and a real honor if I could pull on the Blues jersey, but that can only come from my good performances for the Sharks,” Ramien told AAP.
Ronaldo Mulitalo played his 100th NRL match for the Sharks
‘I’m ready, but I can only control what I can control. Madge (Maguire) called me earlier this year before Origin, and afterwards too.
‘I feel like I’m close. (Maguire) just said I was in contention and had some big games coming up.”
There was nothing bigger than against last year’s grand finalists in front of 41,004 fans at a hostile Suncorp Stadium, the largest ever crowd for a Brisbane-Cronulla match at the venue.
Ramien rose to show that he can rise to the occasion in the toughest arena.
It was a great display in addition to regular top-shelf performances.
“I found consistency,” he said
‘It’s about making sure your best and worst games are not far apart and that you get seven out of ten performances every week.
‘Then with some flash things – a try or try assist – you can get an eight or nine.’
Cronulla coach Craig Fitzgibbon, who played 11 games for NSW and won three series, said Ramien would fit right into the Origin arena.
“He’s been very consistent this year, Jesse,” he said.
‘I would like to see him get a chance, but you have to respect the selection process. There are plenty of good candidates, but it would be great for him.
‘He worked very hard. He is a valuable team member. The players love him and I’m sure if he was given a chance the (NSW) players would love to play with him.”
