The son of Premier League cult hero Tim Cahill has followed in his father’s footsteps by joining a top English club, signing for Nottingham Forest.
Shae Cahill, 19, has signed a two-year contract with Forest after a spell in Australia with Brisbane Roar.
The central midfielder was supported by his father and Everton legend Tim, 44, at his official unveiling in the East Midlands on Thursday.
The former Socceroos captain shared the exciting news on Instagram: “Congratulations,” he said. “We are all so proud of you and enjoying this next chapter.”
Shae, who played in the Toffees academy before moving to Brisbane, told the club’s official website: “I’m so happy and excited to start this next chapter with Nottingham Forest. I’d like to thank everyone at the club and my family for their support.
‘My goal is to train hard and put in the effort to perform as well as possible. In doing so, I make both my family and the football club proud.’

Shae will start in the youth academy and eventually hopes to earn a place in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first team.
“We are delighted to welcome Shae to Nottingham Forest and look forward to seeing how he settles into the B team,” said Chris McGuane, the club’s Head of Academy.
‘Shae has first team experience in Australia and joins the club with the ambition to improve as a player.’
