A football legend has expressed his disappointment after being forced to withdraw from Soccer Aid on the day of the match.
There is much anticipation for Sunday evening’s high-profile charity match at Stamford Bridge, which will see a host of celebrities and former footballers taking part.
However, one of the most prominent ex-players now set to feature will not be involved in the game, and the reason for his withdrawal is unclear.
The player was expected to be part of the Rest of the World squad.
In last year’s match, held at Old Trafford, the World XI emerged victorious 4–2.

Former Real Madrid left-back Roberto Carlos revealed that he will not be able to play in the match.
Carlos wrote on Instagram: ‘Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the Soccer Aid for UNICEF match at Stamford Bridge tonight. Good luck to all players – and don’t forget to donate!’.
Former Tottenham star Robbie Keane, who is part of the World XI team’s coaching staff, sent a message to Carlos, writing: “We will miss you my friend.”
During his illustrious career, Carlos won three Champions Leagues and four LaLiga titles with Real Madrid. At international level, he won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002 and also won the Copa America twice.
He has participated in Soccer Aid several times in the past.

Despite Carlos’ absence, there are still many key names in the World XI squad, with Eden Hazard notably making his return to Stamford Bridge, while Petr Cech, Michael Essien and Alessandro Del Piero are also expected to feature.
Usain Bolt and Tommy Fury are among the other sports stars in the World XI squad.
Meanwhile, former internationals Ashley Cole, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott are in the England squad, along with Danny Dyer, Stuart Broad and Mo Farah.
