Residents of a Florida neighborhood have captured chilling surveillance footage of a well-dressed man knocking on doors with a machete.
Video shows a bald, clean-shaven man in glasses, a tucked-in collared shirt, complete with a tie and frock pants, walking toward a house in Lauderhill around 5:30 a.m. Monday morning.
He uses the machete’s handle to knock on the door before immediately walking away.
“I see a random guy knocking on the door with the back of a machete,” a male resident, who said he thought the man was a potential lawyer, said at the house.
“Then he disappears as quickly as he came.”
A woman in the home added that she did not know why the man came and knocked once before leaving.
“It’s so mysterious we have no idea of his intentions,” she said.
“He didn’t seem like someone who was lost or confused. He seemed very deliberate, very matter-of-fact, as if he were dressed for business—just with a machete.”

According to the woman, the unknown man knocked on the door of another house earlier in the evening.
“They saw the same thing going to their door, leaving the same thing, and doing the same thing,” she said WSVN. “I think they drove around.”
“Yeah, we’re a little shocked,” the man said.
Police were notified of the incidents and have since increased patrols in the area. Although the images caused fear among the homeowners, police have classified the images as suspicious and said no crimes were committed.
It’s not known how many doors the man knocked on in total, but neighbors have urged others to constantly check their cameras for additional sightings of the man, which they still hope to identify.
“I just hope someone knows who the person is. That way we have peace of mind about what’s happening or – we don’t want that person to come again, do we?’ the man said.
“So we want to know exactly who it is, that’s how everyone knows it too.”

Because he wields a machete, the woman said she was concerned for the well-being of her child.
“We have a 4-year-old son, I’m suddenly a lot more worried and just because he gets out of the car, you know, myself,” the woman said.
“Yeah, he makes us look at the cameras a lot more now,” the man added.
