Horrifying new footage shows the moment private jet smashes on to Florida highway before wiping out traffic – killing two pilots but saving three on board

Horrifying new footage shows the moment a plane crashed on I-75 in Florida, killing two people.

The video shows the private jet, piloted by Edward Daniel Murphy, 50, and the second man, Ian Frederick Hofmann, 65, crashing when the engines failed.

The two pilots were killed on impact, but thanks to their ability to guide the Bombardier Challenger 60 onto the busy highway, three others on board survived.

New video from Florida shows Friday’s plane crash in Naples — a harrowing sight provided by an eagle-eyed motorist on I-75.

The images, currently circulating on social media, have been substantiated and show the moment the private jet crashed after its engines suddenly cut out.

Video shows the plane hitting a car as it crashed, before bursting into flames when it collided with a central reservation. Further footage showed the survivors fleeing as flames spread around them.

A huge plume of smoke followed, after which the FBI was called to the scene to investigate the wreckage. They further revealed that the plane was just minutes away from safety – in this case, the Naples airport runway just a few kilometers away.

The driver, identified by DailyMail.com as Miami truck driver Alfonso Del Nodal, was one of several drivers who captured the impromptu landing on the makeshift runway.

“Last minute,” he wrote in a caption for one of two clips showing the crash, which he posted to his Facebook two days after the crash occurred.

Other images – including video captured by passing motorist Kyle Cavaliere – showed the huge plumes of smoke rising from the wreckage shortly after the plane crashed.

“He also landed on a car,” Cavaliere exclaims as he approaches the scene and steers his car closer to the huge flames visible as debris is scattered across the road.

The plane was reportedly en route from Columbus, Ohio, to Naples airport, with the FBI having identified all the people on board.

Crew member Sydney Ann Bosmans, 23, along with passengers Aaron Baker, 35, and Audra Green, 23, narrowly escaped with their lives and were filmed fleeing the fiery inferno after it crashed on Friday.

Officials on the scene further clarified that Murphy, an experienced pilot, was from Oakland Park, Florida, and that Hofmann was from Pompano Beach, Florida.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting the investigation.

Other footage showed the three survivors – two passengers and a crew member – sprinting away from the burning plane.

“Is there anyone else in there?” Stewardess Cavaliere asks as he runs over to help.

‘Yes, yes our pilots!’ one of the survivors shouts back. Caveliere then asks if they are still alive and the woman replies that she does not know.

The panicked survivors then start asking if he can use his phone as the clip ends.

NTSB officials later said the pilots — both of whom have years of flying experience — reported a dual engine failure during a harrowing emergency call to air traffic control just before the crash.

Audio of that emergency correspondence has since been released, capturing panicked voices or a malfunctioning aircraft – although it is difficult to tell.

The FBI added that the plane was just a minute away from an emergency landing in Naples – while another audio moment showed Murphy knew they wouldn’t make it.

FlightAware data initially showed the plane traveling from the Ohio State University Airport, prompting the college to issue a statement saying the plane was only using its facilities and had no connection to the university itself.

The plane was actually owned by Hop-a-Jet, a Florida-based private charter company where Bosmans and the two pilots all worked.

The three survivors — two of whom were confirmed to be passengers from Columbus, Ohio — were taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

After the crash, the company said it had received “confirmed reports of an accident involving one of our leased aircraft near Naples” and promised to send a team to the crash site.

“Our immediate concern is for the well-being of our passengers, crew members and their families,” it said.

The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), meanwhile, was forced to close all southbound lanes of the heavily trafficked roadway for 24 hours as it investigated the accident.

A preliminary report from the agency – which is charged with monitoring air traffic for the entire country – will be prepared within 30 days, the report said.

The three survivors — two of whom were confirmed as passengers from Columbus, Ohio — were taken to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

As of Tuesday, their condition remains unknown. DailyMail.com has contacted the FAA for comment.
