Foodies wowed after realising what plastic pull tab on cooking oil is for
Thousands were “baffled” after two friends revealed the lesser-known purpose of pull tabs on cooking oil bottles.
Brisbane’s Zach and Steve shared a mesmerizing video demonstrating how to use the plastic tab ‘properly’ instead of throwing it away.
After the tab was removed, it was turned upside down and placed in the bottle to pour out the oil perfectly.
“Don’t you hate it when you’re pouring oil and it all makes a mess?” Zach said in a TikTok video.
“Well I do and believe me, try this hack and you will thank me later.”

This allows an even amount of oil to be poured into the pan during cooking, while controlling movement.

The simple tactic was called “genius” and “game changing” by other home cooks who couldn’t believe they had never heard of the trick.
The short video has since been viewed more than 11,000 times and left others completely baffled.
‘This is genius!’ one commented, the other said, “I can’t believe I didn’t know this.”
‘Wait what! Brilliant!!’ said a third.
“I haven’t known this all my life,” admitted another.
Although one person pointed out a possible mistake.
“Yeah, do this hack, and if the lid falls off and oil leaks everywhere, we’ll see how effective it is,” he said.
