A Sydney food and lifestyle blogger has raked in a $50 million windfall, selling her mansion for around $80 million after buying it for $30 million just three years ago

Stephanie Conley-Buhre and her venture capitalist husband Oscar Buhre bought the stunning Bellevue Hill home in the eastern suburbs in 2021, after which they spent about $20 million on renovations.

The couple added an indoor pool, three kitchens, a gym, a day spa and a recreation room to their 10-bedroom Alcooringa apartment on exclusive Victoria Road.

Other attractions include a ballroom, private chapel, ladies’ and gents’ toilets, a spacious staircase and an elevator to all floors.

There is a home office, billiard room, internal gym and sauna, large wine cellar, catering kitchen and a secure garage for three cars with additional guest parking.

The property also includes a self-contained guest house with three bedrooms, a separate entrance and a garage.

Alcooringa last sold for $28.5 million in 2021, three years later it sold again for around $80 million

Situated on a 1,560 sqm plot, the Spanish Mission building Alcooringa offers panoramic views over Sydney Harbour, the city skyline, the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and Manly.

In an interview with Home Beautiful magazine this year, the couple described how the house had been neglected for nearly 40 years when they bought it.

At the time, the house featured a ballroom, a private chapel, a separate caretaker’s residence, and one of the most beautiful views from Bellevue Hill.

The renovation and restoration came about after a trip to Spain to gather ideas and finishes.

News of the deal broke after a caveat was placed on the property’s title deed on Thursday, revealing that Hannah Chapman, an expat living abroad, had purchased the renovated home.

The settlement is expected to determine whether Alcooringa can top last year’s sale of the Spanish Mission House Boomerang in Elizabeth Bay, which was sold by the family of billionaire Lindsay Fox, making it the fifth most expensive house sold in Sydney.

The four-storey 1930s mansion, designed by architect F. Glynn Gilling, was originally known as Biscaya.

The enterprising couple also benefited from the sale of their previous home, which was also located on Victoria Road in Bellevue Hill.

They bought it in 2018 for $17.1 million and sold it three years later, after a renovation and a new garden, for $30 million.

The duo are now on the hunt for their next project, with the help of purchasing agent Simon Cohen and a budget of $40-60 million.
