Foo Fighters announce upcoming new album release…more than a year after drummer Taylor Hawkins passed away suddenly on tour
Foo Fighters will soon release their first album since the passing of their longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins, as announced by their record label.
The upcoming album is called But Here We Are and will be released on June 2 — more than a year after Hawkins tragically and suddenly died at the age of 50 while the group was on tour.
According to the press release, the band’s eleventh studio album is a “brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters have endured over the past year.”
Earlier last week, the rock band teased new music with a cryptic message shared by frontman Dave Grohl alongside a 13-second trailer of a never-before-heard song.
Their first single from the album — titled Rescued — has already been dropped and is now available to listen to.

“But Here We Are is a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family,” the release read.
“Brave, damaged and unwaveringly authentic, But Here We Are opens with newly released first single,” the press release continued.
They also stated that Rescued is “the first of 10 songs that span the emotional spectrum from anger and sadness to serenity and acceptance, and countless points in between”.
Sonically channeling the naivety of Foo Fighters’ 1995 debut, informed by decades of maturity and depth, But Here We Are is the sound of brothers taking refuge in the music that brought them together in the first place 28 years ago, a process that became equally therapeutic when it came to continuing life.’
The album’s tracklist includes: Rescued, Under You, Hearing Voices, But Here We Are, The Glass, Nothing at All, Show Me How, Beyond Me, The Teacher and Rest.
In late March 2022, Hawkins was found unconscious in a hotel in Bogota, Colombia.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and officials later revealed the cause of death was cardiac arrest.
Foo Fighters — at the time consisting of the drummer alongside Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee — were in town for a festival appearance as the band embarked on the South American leg of their tour.

They played their 2021 album Medicine at Midnight – their last with Hawkins.
In September 2022, the band hosted star-studded tribute concerts for Hawkins in both London and Los Angeles.
With the loss of their bandmate, fans speculated when the rock stars would return until Shiflett, the guitarist, previously confirmed that a comeback was imminent.
Foo Fighters had also announced they plan to perform at festivals and a series of upcoming headline shows across the United States in 2023.
At this time, it is not yet known who will accompany the band as drummer for the album or the upcoming tour scheduled for late summer and early fall.
