Flybuys sends urgent message to Australian customers after shock closure news
Flybuys Australia has assured customers it will not close after its New Zealand counterparts announced it would be closing its savings program.
The Kiwi version of Flybuys announced on Wednesday that customers had until October 31 to collect points and until December 31 to spend them.
Aussie Flybuys posted a photo of Daily Mail Australia’s coverage of the matter on Instagram on Wednesday, with the caption: ‘PSA: Flybuys Australia is not closing.’
The news came as a relief to Australian customers.
‘Pfff! We’re safe here in Australia… Flybuys is here to stay,’ cheered one.
Another fan of the rewards system said: ‘Thank goodness! I’m less than 50,000 points away from reaching 1 million! I need to have my bragging rights for all those years of saving them.’
“Luckily I can finally sleep peacefully now,” someone said, perhaps with a wink.
Flybuys New Zealand members can earn points by shopping with partner organisations such as LiquorLand, Petcober, BNZ and more.

You can then exchange the points for rewards and special offers, such as discounts on petrol at petrol stations and discounts at supermarkets.
The discontinuation of the loyalty program means customers will have to switch to other options if they want exclusive discounts.
New World’s Clubcard and Countdown’s Onecard are the most used loyalty programs in New Zealand (2024).
Lizzy Ryley, CEO of Loyalty NZ, said: ‘The landscape for loyalty programmes has changed and continues to change rapidly. Businesses now have greater access to technology and capabilities that allow them to create their own highly tailored loyalty programmes.
‘We wanted to give our members as much notice as possible so that they have enough time to redeem their points, even during the busy Christmas period.

Buyers are expressing their dissatisfaction online.
“I was so close to my new vacuum cleaner,” someone moaned.
“I’ve used this plan many times. It has “bought” family gifts, lots of kitchen appliances, and helped me treat my friends to something they want but don’t want to spend the money on,” said another.
