Florida GOP Rep. Greg Steube files articles of impeachment against Joe Biden ‘for helping Hunter commit crimes’
A Florida congressman has filed articles of impeachment against Joe Biden over allegations that the president aided his son Hunter in committing crimes and covered them up.
Representative Greg Steube, a Republican, filed four articles alleging that the president is guilty of using his position as vice president to facilitate his son Hunter’s alleged crimes and protect family members from the law.
In a statement released Friday, Trump’s staunch ally said it’s “long overdue to unseat Joe Biden.”
“He has undermined the integrity of his office, discredited the presidency, betrayed his confidence as president and acted in a manner that undermines the rule of law and justice at the expense of the citizens of the United States,” the statement continued.
“Evidence is mounting by the day – the Biden Crime Family has personally benefited from Joe’s government positions through bribery, threats and fraud. Joe Biden should not sit in the White House and sell out our country.”
Florida Congressman Greg Steube, photographed in April, said he introduced articles of impeachment because it’s “a long time” to remove Biden from the White House
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, in which he listed the reasons for his attempt to impeach Biden as: “Bribery. Extortion. Obstruction of justice. Fraud. Financial involvement in drugs & prostitution.’
Steube alleged that President Biden used his influence as vice president to enrich his son Hunter
The first impeachment article filed by Steube alleges that Biden abused his office as vice president between 2009 and 2017 by taking bribes related to the business activities of Hunter and his brother James.
The pair are accused of selling access to Biden during his stint as vice president. James and Hunter received hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Chinese energy company in 2017.
Hunter also held a well-paid position on the board of directors of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, despite having little knowledge of the energy industry.
Steube noted the suspicious business dealings in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, listing the reasons for his attempt to oust Biden as: “Bribery. Extortion. Obstruction of justice. Fraud. Financial involvement in drugs & prostitution.’
The second impeachment article alleges that Biden obstructed a federal investigation into Hunter’s alleged tax crimes.
Hunter has denied paying federal taxes on $4.4 million in income in 2017 and 2018.
He should have accepted a plea deal, but a Delaware judge rejected it last month because the terms were too broad and favorable for the first son.
IRS whistleblower Joseph Ziegler alleges that the Justice Department obstructed tax chiefs’ investigations into Hunter Biden’s alleged financial impropriety.

Steube’s other two articles allege that the president committed fraud and that he also paid for his wayward son’s drug and hooker addiction.
He has skipped at least four other GOP-led committee inquiries into Biden, which could lead to separate impeachment proceedings.
President Biden has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
The Florida lawmaker has also introduced legislation that he hopes will force the Secret Service to write a report on cocaine found in the White House.
Drugs were found in the West Wing in early July, leading the Secret Service to disbelief after they claimed they could not trace who brought the substances to one of the most heavily guarded buildings in the world.
Last week, the Soldier of Fortune website claimed the drugs likely came from “someone within the Biden family” and that the president knows who they belong to.
Steube called his bill on the cocaine scandal the “Helping Understand Narcotics Traces at the Executive Residence (HUNTER) Act.” The president’s son has battled a highly publicized addiction to crack cocaine, but was reportedly not in the White House at the time.
Steube also introduced a bill challenging the Secret Service’s failure to find the perpetrator who brought cocaine into the White House last month, which he dubbed the “Helping Understand Narcotics Traces at the Executive Residence (HUNTER) Act.”
The articles of impeachment are not the first filed against President Biden, with more than a dozen previously filed against the president and his officials while in office.
Some have speculated that Republican lawmakers have pushed for impeachment in retaliation for the two impeachments imposed on Donald Trump in 2017 and 2021, respectively.
Speaking of efforts to remove Biden from office, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said last month, “We don’t get into what House Republicans want or don’t do — hypothetical theories.
‘That’s theirs. That’s for them to talk to. What I can say is exactly what we are doing today.
“The economic numbers are so much better than economists had expected. And so that’s because of the work that this president has done.
“That will be our focus. Our focus will be on what we can do to make Americans’ lives a little better, by giving them a little extra breathing space.”
