Florence Pugh reveals being paired with Andrew Garfield as Oscar presenters was an ‘accident’

Florence Pugh said being paired with Andrew Garfield to present an Oscar award was just an accident on Monday night’s The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on NBC.

“I met him the day before at rehearsals and we instantly hit it off,” Florence said. She ‘she was talking about him and she loved it. He was taking the shit out of me and I loved it. It was great.’

Florence, 27, and Andrew, 39, are now in talks to star together in a new movie called We Live in Time.

“You know how crazy they didn’t know we were doing a movie together,” Florence said. I don’t think they did. This was a small accident.

Wearing a sequined black jumpsuit, Florence appeared on the show to promote her new movie ‘A Good Person,’ written by Zach Braff, who wrote it with her in mind.

“It was just a joy,” Florence said. ‘It was fun.’

Florence said that Molly Shannon played her mother and that she was “incredible” to work with.

“How fun,” said Florence.

Jimmy noted that she also sang in this movie.

“The cool thing is that it’s the first time I’ve written a song for a character and also performed a song as the character,” said Florence.

‘That was very nice. But then, outside of the film, I was able to record them how I wanted, like me, like the creator. So when the movie comes out, my songs will also be on the soundtrack,” he added.

Jimmy asked her if she got nervous singing.

“For years, I was always more of a singer-songwriter, it happened more when I was younger than when I was performing,” Florence said. “Then when I did my first acting job, it just took off like that.”

Florence said that she was very excited to do it and had wanted to do it for a long time.

Jimmy asked how his character in the movie cuts his hair. Florence said that it was actually her own idea.

“Zach, I think I should cut my hair at the beginning of the movie and he said ‘great, that’s not going to work,'” Florence said. “It was like how do we do this shooting in order and I was like ‘you’ll figure it out’ and they figured it out.”

Jimmy showed photos of her cutting her hair. Florence explained that the film was about addiction, grief, and opioids.

“We find my character, Allison, in this really complicated and tough journey of recovery and addiction, and I get to hang out with Morgan Freeman and Molly Shannon,” Florence said.

Jimmy played a clip from the film.

Florence also shared that her grandmother Pat, who appeared with her on the red carpet, was now so famous that people gave her gifts. She said that months later her grandmother asked her the name of the person who had given her her bag.

“Once in Venice, she kept going up to Chris Pine … and saying, ‘I’m more famous than you,'” Florence said.

Jimmy then played a game with the audience trying to guess what Florence liked based on the answers she secretly gave him at the beginning of the show.

As part of the game, Florence shared that her favorite song from the ’90s was A Decade in Blue by Eiffel 65.

The next question was which was your favorite Florence Pugh movie, Midsommer or Lady Macbeth. Florence said Lady Macbeth

“Because I appreciated what she did for me and my career, I chose Lady MacBeth,” Florence said.

Florence then shared that her favorite color was rusty orange. Jimmy asked her if her favorite way to relax was a massage and an audio book or a bath and real housewives.

“If you really see real housewives, it’s relaxing,” Jimmy said. ‘I love it because I say ‘it’s not my problem’.

“It really is so relaxing to know that you don’t have to deal with this or that. It’s none of my business, but I can sit in the bathroom and drink my wine,” Florence said.

Florence also shared that her favorite pizza topping was sausage and mushrooms.
