Speaking during the filming of the film, which will be released next month, Florence said: ‘It was heavenly. We’ve been admiring each other for a while. By the time we met, it was high time. Yeah, we didn’t get to perform much together…
‘But it does not matter. When you work with people you admire, people you look up to and want to see how they work, it’s always a great experience. You hope it’s great, and in this case it was.”
Speaking about their joy and enthusiasm to work together again, she continued, “It made us excited for the next part, possibly, whether that’s in this storyline or outside of this storyline. If you can do press with someone…

‘It just makes you more excited to see them at work again and understand what it would be like to work with them again. So we’ve definitely worked up quite an appetite after this press tour, because we’re just desperate. Someone, write us something!’
Florence also spoke about the pressure of starring in 2021’s highly anticipated sequel to part one, saying: ‘My biggest challenge? Not to ruin it! No pressure…
‘There is no biggest challenge when you receive the best gift, which is working with brilliant people. The biggest challenge is making sure you are aware of their brilliance, that you match exactly what seduced you in the first film…
‘For any actor who admires at least one person on set, making sure you keep your cool is always a big ask, but when everyone on set is great, you’re not just trying to keep your own cool, but also We make sure that it was the right decision that you were cast…
“So that’s probably always one of the biggest challenges, keeping yourself calm. But yeah, it’s great to work with so much talent, ambition and skill because it really raises the bar for yourself.’
Zendaya, meanwhile, talked about Chani’s storyline – which saw her escape “a romantic interest” thanks to filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s decision.
Zendaya plays Chani in the film
She said: ‘I think (Denis Villeneuve) really had a vision, probably before I even became part of the project, of where (Chani) was going to go…
“What I liked about the first film, or what I appreciated, is that she’s seen through Paul’s eyes, so we don’t really know her…
‘We actually have no expectations from her. But the woman we meet here is very clear, very strong, very direct and knows exactly who she is…
‘And we find out who she is together with Paul. I think love is the last thing on her mind. In any case, it also seems to be a bit of a distraction from what she knows and what she wants in this life, and what she is working towards or trying to protect…
“And it just becomes a huge distraction, confusion and point of contention for her.” So I think it’s much more than a love interest, but rather a complicated relationship that gets in the way of love… Without giving it away, it’s not pretty.”
