Five-year-old boy fighting for life after parking meter falls onto him outside Bunbury Museum

A five-year-old boy has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after a parking meter fell on him.

Paramedics were called to Bunbury’s CBD, south of Perth, just after 10.30am on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the WorkSafe Commissioner’s office confirmed that a parking meter had fallen on the boy in a courtyard at Bunbury Museum.

Three paramedics responded to the incident and St John Ambulance confirmed the boy had suffered serious injuries.

He was taken to Bunbury Hospital for treatment before the Royal Flying Doctors Service took him to Perth Children’s Hospital late on Wednesday.

The five-year-old is still there in critical condition.

City of Bunbury CEO Alan Ferris said the city was working with authorities to understand how the meter ended up on the boy.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of an incident involving a young child at the Bunbury Museum and Heritage Center yesterday,” he said.
