Five homes to buy in British areas, which are seeing a big increase in the number of homes for sale

Houses in popular rural and coastal locations have been scarce in recent years, but the tide is now turning, new data shows.

Zoopla said the supply of homes for sale on its website has increased by 20 percent in the past year, meaning buyers are enjoying the highest level of spring home choice in five years.

And specific areas are seeing a surge in supply, with the South West leading the way as agents report 2.5 times as many homes for sale compared to a year ago.

The property website identified other supply hotspots including Cornwall, Devon, Wales and the East Midlands.

Sam Turner, from Cornish estate agent Kivells, said: “The spring market has certainly blossomed as we see an increase in activity across the county.

‘There has been a large increase in the number of new properties coming onto the market, giving buyers more choice.

‘This also supports the moving process for our suppliers, as they have more choice when making further purchases.’
