A woman who lost more than 50 pounds after quitting the yo-yo diet has revealed three simple things you can do if you want to lose weight but have no idea how to start.

Maddie Kossin, a fitness coach and nutritionist, has more than 272,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares her “no BS” approach to fat loss.

The 25-year-old struggled with her body image and her relationship with food for almost a decade before starting her weight loss journey almost seven years ago.

After giving up fad diets and focusing on sustainable lifestyle changes, the 6-foot-2 trainer went from nearly 200 pounds to 134 pounds with just 24 percent body fat.

Kossin dedicated one of her videos to “easy weight loss tips” for people “starting from scratch,” and said this is where she would start if she were a beginner.

  2. Walk 20 minutes a day
  3. Write down your weight loss goal in the present tense as if you have already experienced it

“These things are so easy to do, so you can’t make any excuses this time,” she said.

Kossin’s first piece of advice was to “buy a cute water bottle” and take it with you everywhere.

‘Drink it before you eat. Drink it after you eat. Drink it between meals. Just carry something like this with you and get used to picking it up and drinking it,” she said.

‘This is not difficult to do. Don’t make any excuses for this.’

Her second tip was to “intentionally walk for 20 minutes every day.”

“You could do this at your home. You can do this at Doel. You could do this outside. You could literally do this anywhere,” she pointed out.

Kossin noted that you can also divide the twenty minutes any way you like, saying you can walk five times four minutes or two times ten minutes. It is up to you.

The fitness coach said her third and final recommendation was the “most important.”

Kossin’s first piece of advice was to “buy a cute water bottle” and take it everywhere, saying you should get used to picking it up and drinking from it.

‘Write down your flow weight loss target in the present tense as if you have already experienced it,” she advised.

“So if your goal is to lose 30 pounds, write, “I’m so grateful that I lost 30 pounds, and I feel great about myself.”

“If you do these three things every day, watch how your life changes, especially in the way you think,” she concluded.

The 57-second video received nearly 300 comments, with many fans thanking her for her no-excuse approach to getting started.

“Watching TikTok with 20 minutes to go so now I’m walking instead of sitting… thank you,” one person wrote.

“To come back and say I’m doing this, and the fact that you said I couldn’t make an excuse was the motivation I needed,” another added.

Earlier this year, Kossin revealed further Instagram that she weighed just 134 pounds, her lowest weight since she began her transformation.

She shared before and after photos of herself, writing, ‘Sometimes I still can’t believe I ever lost weight. There was a time when I was convinced I was stuck for life and genetically screwed.

Kossin added that you should also “write your current weight loss goal in the present tense as if you have already experienced it.”

“What I know for sure is that if you focus on speed instead of direction, you will never lose weight and keep it off,” she wrote on Instagram as she celebrated reaching 134 pounds.

Kossin said the number one question people asked her was how long it took her to lose weight.

“There are six years between these photos,” she explained. ‘Six years of imperfect consistency, body recomposition, muscle building, diet breaks and fun. I’ve probably only been in a calorie deficit for one out of every six years combined.

‘What I know for sure is that if you focus on speed instead of direction, you will never lose weight and you will keep it off. I did that for years and years before.

“If you don’t intentionally get into a routine with a lifestyle and a forever mindset, you’re going to struggle.”

Kossin noted that she had “tried everything,” including keto, Weight Watchers and Atkins.

“The only thing that worked for me? Lifestyle changes that I can keep up with,” she said.

‘You can’t just go to the gym until you reach your goal. You can’t just eat healthier until you reach your goal. This is forever and that’s what most people don’t want to hear.

‘Losing weight is difficult. Lifestyle change is difficult. It was hard to break the habit of buying a McFlurry every time I had a bad day.

“But waking up in the morning and knowing that I was doing my health a disservice by not moving my body and nourishing it with nutrient-dense foods… that was much harder.

“Pick your hard.”
