Fitbit app goes down across US as users report server error issues

The Fitbit app has gone offline in the US as users reported issues with server errors.

The outage makes it impossible to log in to accounts and synchronize devices.

Fitbit’s status dashboard shows a service outage with ‘Sync/pair device’.

“Users may have seen errors logging in and syncing their data between the mobile app and the tracker,” the website said.

Downdetector, a site that monitors online outages, shows that the fitness tracker experienced problems around 5:55 a.m. ET.

Fitbit did not acknowledge the outage on its social media pages, but users posted on X that they were unable to log into their accounts.

One X user posted: ‘@FitbitSupport is your app offline? Won’t sync so uninstalled and tried reinstalling. Now it does not recognize my login/password and I get the message ‘server error’?’

The company’s support page responded with a “fix” to force close the app “as if you close some open apps on your phone and restart your phone.”

However, users noted that the issues are due to the app being “100 percent not working.”

It is unclear what causes the disruptions.

Downdetector shows the outage will largely affect the East Coast, affecting Washington DC, New York City and Boston.

The outage map also shows that Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas are also experiencing problems.
