FIRST LOOK: Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in promo snaps for Yellowstone prequel series 1923

Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren were featured in a trio of first shots of the upcoming 1923 series released Friday.

The pictures featured the 80-year-old actor and 77-year-old actress as Jacob and Cara Dutton while filming for the upcoming series.

The show will serve as a prequel to the long-running drama series Yellowstone and was preceded by the 1883 limited series.

In the photos, Ford was seen in character leading his horse down a dusty road.

The Indiana Jones star was later reunited with Mirren and he kissed her forehead as they posed for a photo.

The actor wore an almost completely black costume that was offset by a stark white hat.

The actress also wore a blue dress and a set of earrings during the photo shoot.

Development on 1923 was first unveiled to the public last February.

The program is a sequel to 1883, which premiered last December.

The series, starring Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, was received positively by critics and fans of Yellowstone alike.

Although the show was due to get a second season, the concept was transformed into a spin-off centered around Bass Reeves.

Although 1923 was originally conceived as an event in 1932, the story was later retracted nine years later.

The program follows an older generation of the Dutton family as they navigate the challenges of the Great Depression.

In addition to Ford and Mirren, the show will also star Sebastian Roche, Marley Shelton and Timothy Dalton.

Physical production on the program initially began last summer, using various locations around Montana as filming locations.

The project’s team is also expected to travel to South Africa and Malta during the filming process.

According to Deadline1923 will run for a total of two seasons, with eight episodes each.

1923 is currently scheduled to premiere on the Paramount+ streaming service on December 18.

Deadline also reported that Taylor Sheridan, co-creator of the Yellowstone franchise, also plans to create spin-off series set in the 1940s and 1960s.
