A teaser for the upcoming Disney-Marvel release Captain America: Brave New World aired Thursday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
In the trailer, President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford) is the target of an assassination attempt that is foiled by Captain America/Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie).
The preview showed Wilson “engaged in hand-to-hand combat” with the would-be assassins “dodging bullets as he desperately tried to save the leader of the free world from a daring attack on the White House ‘. Variety reported.
In the clip, President Ross told Wilson, “I want Captain America to help me rebuild the Avengers.”
Ford previously starred as Commander in Chief as President James Marshall in the 1997 action film Air Force One.

The film marks his debut in the MCU, taking on the role originally played by late Oscar winner William Hurt.
Hurt, who died in March 2022 at the age of 71 after a battle with cancer, played the role in a series of films, including 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: 2019’s Endgame and 2021’s Black Widow. according to iMDb.
The Ross character held the position of Secretary of State from his last appearance in the franchise, and is now the President when the new film opens.
The storyline is timed to follow the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, a streaming series on Disney+, the outlet reported.
In Avengers: Endgame, the original Captain America, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), renounced his superhero status, paving the way for Wilson to emerge as the patriotic hero.
Mackie told me Entertainment weekly on the new film’s storyline: ‘It made more sense for it to be more of a ground-based spy action movie, as opposed to aliens and planes coming through portals and s***.
“Even though I’ve been in so many movies and have now seen them all, this movie gives Sam the opportunity to really establish himself as a true action star and Avenger.”
He added: “This film is a definite reset. It really restores the idea of what this universe is and what this universe will be.

The film marks Ford’s debut in the MCU, taking on the role initially played by late Oscar winner William Hurt, pictured in LA at the 2016 premiere of Captain America: Civil War.

Directed by Julius Onah, the cast of the tentpole film includes Danny Ramirez, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly and Liv Tyler.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige said during Thursday’s showcase that the film parallels the 2014 film Captain America: The Winter Soldier because it has a 1970s cinematic feel. He called it “another fast-paced, relatively grounded action thriller” that doesn’t involve aliens, Variety reported.
Captain America: Brave New World is scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2025, in what is shaping up to be a critical release for Marvel, after recent films like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Eternals and The Marvels were among the were impressed with the critical acclaim and box office revenue.
According to Variety, the film’s release date has been postponed due to last year’s entertainment industry strikes.
