Firing of factory workers in Vizag exposes BJP’s anti-labor prospects: Venugopal

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal criticized the BJP-led government at the Center for dismissing 4,200 contract workers from the Vizag Steel Plant.

Venugopal called for the immediate relocation of the workers.

“Congress condemns this step and demands the immediate reinstatement of these workers. We urge both the central and state governments to take prompt corrective measures. Congress stands firmly with the workers and is committed to taking all necessary steps to reverse this unjust decision. ” he said in his message.

He further noted that Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President YS Sharmila has announced an indefinite hunger strike if the workers are not recovered within 48 hours.

“APCC President Smt. @realyssharmila has declared that she will start an indefinite hunger strike at the factory if the workers do not return to work within 48 hours. The Congress is steadfast in its commitment to protect the future of the Vizag Steel Plant, and we will do so. We should not allow the NDA government to sell off such a prestigious industrial unit to private entities,” Venugopal added.
