Voice actress Tara Strong, who appeared in Rugrats, Teen Titans and The Powerpuff Girls, has been ousted after liking a post that said: ‘Islam is dangerous’.
Strong, 50, has been dropped from her role on the animated series Boxtown due to her recent posts and comments about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Strong, known for voicing characters on several Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon shows, posted a response to Boxtown’s statement announcing the removal of her and the recasting of the role of Bill, which was previously played by Strong.
‘Just discovered on Twitter!’ she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “This is what happens when you help fans get shows made, I guess.”
‘Fired because he was Jewish. I’m glad I helped you get your kickstarter money. Please lose my email address and pray for my family in Israel and Gaza. ‘prayforpeace’ the message continues.

Boxtown’s official account said in a post last week: ‘We will be recasting the role of Bill (formerly played by Tara Strong). We will have more information about open auditions soon. ‘
The account posted a statement on Monday announcing Strong’s removal again, saying it “was not a difficult decision.”
“This decision followed a trend in Tara’s recent online activities, including posts promoting controversial messages about the peoples of Palestine who are currently affected by the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian crisis,” the statement said.
Fans were outraged by the decision, with some slamming the show for cutting ties with Strong because she is Jewish, following her post.
“I’ve seen this before,” one person wrote in the comments.
The show’s account replied with Boxtown writer Spencer Rothbell’s tweet saying other voice actors and writers on the show are Jewish.
‘The other main character is voiced by a Jewish person (Alex Hirsch), the co-writer of the pilot (me) is also a Jew…try again!’ Rothbell spoke out.
Rothbell wrote, “This is an absurd claim,” in response to Strong’s statement that she was “fired because she was Jewish.”

Social media users posted a screenshot liking a post calling Islam “a real, clear and present danger” and equating Islam, Hamas and the Taliban with ISIS.
Strong later disliked the post, replying, “I liked it when I saw ISIS=HAMAS, I actually didn’t read the whole tweet, it’s awful and not nice as soon as I realized it.”
‘I love everyone… except terrorists. This internet is so fast to pin people down and make judgments. I’m still here to help everyone and I mean that,” she wrote.
In its statement, Boxtown wrote: “We believe that our public platform gives us an obligation to exercise caution when it comes to hateful messages and misinformation online. This also applies to our cast and crew. This was not a difficult decision.’
The show’s account also added that recast information will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Our hearts are with the Palestinian and Israeli children and families affected by the ongoing conflict. People should be able to live freely without being threatened by constant abuse and terror,” the post concluded.
