Fire rages on every floor of 35-storey Dubai apartment building near Burj Khalifa: authorities have yet to confirm injuries

A fire raged through every floor of a 35-storey Dubai apartment building near the Burj Khalifa early this morning.

The fire, which started around 2:20 a.m., spread through the block.

It was extinguished at 3:45 am, with black marks of fire damage stretching across the building.

Authorities have not yet confirmed any injuries.

The building is part of a series of towers called 8 Boulevard Walk by Emaar, the state-backed developer in the emirate.

Speaking with the National WorldBindu Rai, who lives opposite the building, said: ‘My mother woke up when the fire started when her whole room was lit.

“My building faces Boulevard 8 and from what we thought the cladding on the left side of the building was on fire from top to bottom.

“The fire had spread to two apartments that were half way up. For the rest of the building it was limited to the outside.’

Bindu told the publication that at one point she could see debris falling to the ground.

She saw firefighters and emergency services arrive at the scene. Her friend who lives close to the building told her that people have been evacuated and some have been taken to the Rove hotel.

The fire was not immediately recognized by the Dubai Police and Civil Defense.

Dubai Media Office and Emaar have not made any statements about the fire.

Numerous fires in buildings in Dubai in recent years have raised questions about safety.

There is also concern about the materials used in the design of the buildings.

In April, a major fire broke out at the Swissotel Al Murooj Hotel in April. No one was injured in the incident.

On New Year’s Eve in 2015, a fire swept through Address Downtown, one of the most luxurious hotels and residences in Dubai near the Burj Khalifa.

The Address Downtown caught fire at about 9:30 p.m. Dubai time, with flames appearing to extend from the ground floor to a further 40 floors of the 63-storey building.

Those who escaped described people climbing over each other in their haste to flee the burning building. A Briton had to carry his disabled mother on his back.

A medic revealed that at least 60 people had been injured, many with crushes, with officials saying one person had suffered a heart attack.

The 200-room hotel – which also features 600 private apartments – would likely be packed with people sitting in their rooms waiting for the best view of the fireworks at the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper, which sits across the street. from the lake of The Adres.

Those waiting downstairs were in danger of being hit by burning debris falling from the building.
