New South Wales residents have received a final reminder that they only have until Sunday to spend free money on a hotel getaway or even theme parks.

Households are being reminded to use their Stay NSW and Parents NSW vouchers by October 9 after they have been issued to boost the economy and local businesses after the Covid lockdowns.

Subject to a company’s terms and conditions, residents can book after the expiration date as long as the company redeems your voucher before the deadline.

On Thursday, Victor Dominello, Secretary of Customer Service and Digital Government, said: “Both programs combined have added nearly $350 million to the NSW economy, with 97 percent of customers giving the thumbs up.

‘Do not miss it. There’s still time to redeem vouchers and reap the rewards these school holidays… Watch that movie you’ve always wanted to see with friends or take the kids to a museum or wildlife park. You save money and support companies.’

Tourism Secretary Ben Franklin said: ‘The Stay NSW voucher has been a great incentive for NSW residents to explore the incredible cultural and natural wonders of our state, while providing a significant economic boost to local accommodation providers.’

There are currently over $70 million in Stay NSW vouchers yet to be redeemed.

Each of the vouchers used supports accommodation locations that have been hit by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in recent years.

One person from each eligible household can request five $50 vouchers, worth a total of $250.

NSW government vouchers are non-transferable and can only be redeemed by the customer who received the voucher.

They cannot be used as a gift or donation to a registered company and cannot be exchanged for cash or gift cards.
