Every character in it Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has seven weapons (wow, just like the name of the game) to find and unlock. Each weapon also has a unique weapon skill that makes party members stronger. Mastering these skills so that you can use them even if the characters don’t have the weapons in question is an important part of the game, but where do you find all these weapons?
While some are locked behind some side contents, you’ll encounter the majority of them as you crawl through caverns and abandoned reactors, so you’ll want to be especially on the lookout for purple glowing chests. We will discuss this in more detail below.
In our FF7 Rebirth In the guide we explain which weapons are best to use, how to level up weapons and where to find each weapon in the game.
What is the best weapon in FF7 Rebirth?
There isn’t really a definitive answer to this, as weapons have different stats and specialties. It mainly depends on how you like to play. For the most part, later weapons will be better than earlier ones, especially since later weapons allow you to equip more equipment.
For example, the second to last weapon for Cloud, the Igneous Saber, has a significantly higher physical attack than the rest of his weapons, but in return has a lower magical attack stat. While this is my weapon of choice for Cloud (since I don’t use much magic on him), someone looking to cast spells can opt for Cloud’s third weapon, the Rune Blade, which has a very high magic attack.
That is to say, all of these weapons are further customized in terms of ‘weapon skills’, so it’s really up to you. If you feel like you’re dying a lot, you may need a weapon that increases HP. If you’re a master at countering and parrying, you might want a weapon with a damage-increasing ability for Cloud’s Punctioner mode.
How to improve weapons in FF7 Rebirth
The idea of “leveling up your weapons” is quite misleading, as the weapons and their levels have their own “upgrade weapons” menu screen. unlike Final Fantasy 7 Remakethere is no way to level up individually individually weapons using a skill tree. Instead, each character has a “weapon level” that is slightly separate from their normal levels. All the SP you get from leveling goes into one huge skill tree, so you really don’t have to worry about anything here.
Just keep fighting and your weapon level will increase.
As you increase your weapon level you will unlock new “weapon skills”, which can increase stats, increase the spread of individual skills, or add other useful benefits. You can equip these in both the ‘weapons and materia’ and ‘upgrade weapons’ screens. Different weapons have different weapon abilities, so you’ll want to try out some different combinations to see what suits your playstyle.
Where to find every weapon in FF7 Rebirth?
You can find almost every weapon in the game in a glowing purple chestbut every character except cloud has a weapon that you have to get some other way, be it a sidequest, mini gameor a combination of both.
Some purple chests are quite easy to miss, but don’t be afraid. Once you’ve completed that part of the game, you can go back and buy the missed weapon from a shopkeeper in one of the large areas (like Gongaga Village or Kalm) for gil. (Note that we say shopkeeper, not automatic.) This only applies to weapons that are not behind minigames and side quests. If you want these weapons, you still have to complete the side quest or get the highest score in the mini-game – there’s no way around it.
Every character except Cait Sith also gets their final weapon in the game’s final dungeon, the Temple of the Ancients, so if you’re still missing a weapon before the point of no return, this is why.
We list all weapons below FF7 Rebirthalong with where to find them, their skills, and what chapter you can find them in. The table is also sortable, so you can quickly find the weapon you want.
