Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth producer checks in with vague promise it’s still on track
Square Enix has been eerily quiet lately when it comes to developing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirththe second installment in the developer’s planned three-part Final Fantasy 7 remake project that began in 2020 Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Rebirth was announced a year ago and little has been said about it since then.
On Friday, Yoshinori Kitase, the game’s producer, told fans that not only is the development of the game going smoothly, but the development team will be sharing a release date with them soon.
We haven’t seen or heard anything from Square Enix regarding Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth since the game was revealed in June 2022. It was initially announced that the game would be released on PlayStation 5 during “next winter”, with a possible launch date around late 2023 or early 2024.
Given the imminent release of FinalFantasy 16 – which will be released on PlayStation 5 on June 22 – one could assume that Square Enix will settle for an early 2024 release, to give fans enough time to dive into the latest main title in the series before returning to the world of Final Fantasy 7.
