A PC version exclusive to PlayStation 5 Final fantasy 16 is in development, producer Naoki Yoshida has announced, along with two episodes of paid story DLC for the Square Enix role-playing game.
Yoshida relayed the news a short video message which was played on Saturday during a Final Fantasy panel at the PAX West gaming convention.
Additionally, updated 1.10 has been released for Final fantasy 16 with some new customization options. A series of numbers from the game will soon also be coming to the musical Final Fantasy spin-off Theater Rhythm Last bar.
Yoshida hasn’t revealed much about the PC version or story expansions Final fantasy 16but promised more information before the end of the year.
Discussing player feedback, Yoshida said, “One thing that came out particularly clearly was that people wanted to see more of Valisthea’s story and spend more time with her inhabitants. To make this possible, the development team has started work on two pieces of paid DLC.”
As for the PC version, Square Enix seemed to announce one when the game was first revealed in 2020, before quickly removing its mention from the trailers and insisting that the game was a PlayStation 5 exclusive only. Yoshida eventually confirmed its existence, saying, “Allow me to take this opportunity to officially announce that development of a PC version is currently underway. I hope to have more information on both the upcoming DLC and the PC version before the end of the year, so stay tuned.”
The 1.10 patch, available now, adds a weapon skin feature that allows players to change the look of their equipped weapon to that of any other weapon they’ve previously acquired, without changing its stats. There are also new alternate outfits for Clive, Jill, Torgal, Ambrosia and Joshua, and each player will receive an onion sword – the iconic weapon that first appeared in Final fantasy 3. The patch also makes some balance changes and adds a few control customization options.
The Final fantasy 16 Pack for Theater Rhythm Last bar launches on November 1 as part of Part 3 of the game’s Season Pass. The 11 songs included are:
- My star
- Hide, shelter
- To sail forbidden seas
