‘You’re going to scare my kids!’: FIFA 23 women’s team update is MISTREATED by gamers on social media… as stars complain about their virtual pros’ in-game appearances
- FIFA 23’s latest women’s team update hasn’t gone down well with players
- The latest update added 12 teams from the National Women’s Soccer League
- However, the players’ appearances in the game have been criticized since launch.
The latest update to the FIFA 23 women’s team has been criticized by players on social media, who have expressed frustration with their appearances in the game.
FIFA 23, a game produced by EA Sports, has included women’s teams since its release in the summer, but the latest update has caused uproar within the community.
This month, EA Sports added 12 teams from the US Women’s National Soccer League to the game, in addition to the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
However, fans and players quickly realized that many of the in-game appearances for NWSL players do not resemble their appearance in real life.
Angel City FC forward Sydney Leroux has been one of the most vocal critics of the game update, taking to social media multiple times to vent her frustration.
Angel City FC Sydney striker Leroux has spoken about the latest FIFA 23 update
Leroux has expressed his frustration with appearances in the NWSL multiplayer game.
Leroux’s comments came late on Wednesday night, when he responded to a fan’s tweet showing his virtual pro scoring a goal in the game.
The Angel City FC striker was clearly not happy with her appearance in the video and replied: ‘Please tell me I didn’t do a full body scan for that…’
Soon after, he tweeted a photo of his in-game character and posted the caption, “You’re going to scare my kids.”
He also questioned why Welsh international Jessica Fishlock’s character had “a 5 o’clock shadow”.
Other plays quickly followed, after Leroux’s comments, with Houston Dash player Caprice Dydasco saying, “I’m thankful EA Sports is finally listing the NWSL, but this doesn’t represent me.”
Along with the caption, Dydasco shared a side-by-side comparison of her appearance in FIFA 23 and a photo of her during a Houston Dash match.
Leroux’s Angel City FC teammate Madison Hammond also expressed her displeasure when she said: ‘Someone please lmk when they find me, Angel City’s Madison Hammond #99! Because this… just isn’t it!’
The defender shared two images of her in-game appearance that clearly showed the lack of detail given to her character.
EA Sports has not released a statement on the matter, as of yet.
Leroux was not impressed when he first discovered his player’s in-game appearance in FIFA.
Leroux’s teammate Madison Hammond also criticized his look in the FIFA 23 update.

Leroux also questioned that OL Reign star Jessica Fishlock had ‘a 5 o’clock shadow’ in the game.
Earlier this month, in a release note on its website, EA Sports announced the update and its intention to represent “the diverse world of soccer” for players.
Their post read: ‘When FIFA 23 launched we added the ability to play as women’s club teams, with Barclays Women’s Super League and Division 1 Arkema. We recognize the role we play in representing the diverse world of soccer to our players.
“With that, I am pleased to announce the addition of the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) and the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), bringing together some of the best clubs in women’s soccer.
‘The incorporation of these competitions adds new clubs and players. These clubs/players are playable (and editable) throughout the game’.
