FIFA 23 lets you turn off commentary pointing out how bad you are
>
FIFA 23 is arguably the best gaming football game yet for terrible sports fans as you can disable commentary criticizing your bad game.
Now that the FIFA 23 early access release time has passed, EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can get in on the game before it’s fully released. But if Eurogamer (opens in new tab) spotted, they will find a peculiar option waiting for them.
FIFA 23 includes a toggle to turn off Critical Commentary. With this setting, you can mute all negative comments about your technique during the match, so you can protect your precious ego even if you miss an open goal or commit an obvious foul. The more positive commentary is not affected.
Save your feelings
The feature looks special to kids and new players, who don’t want their confidence to break within minutes of picking up the controller. But even experienced players who happen to be bad at the game can take advantage of this.
However, it is not perfect. According to Eurogamer, the feature didn’t seem to work during a FIFA Ultimate Team Division Rivals match, with critical comments slipping through the filter. But who hasn’t benefited from a light barbecue every now and then?
Polite Commentary isn’t the only new addition in FIFA 23. It’s the first game in the series to feature women’s soccer teams and beautiful, revamped animations that take advantage of the next-generation hardware of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. EA hopes to finish on a high as FIFA 23 is the last of its football games to be released with the official FIFA license.
If turning off critical commentary doesn’t improve your soccer skills, building a team of Marvel superheroes just might. Though you might not do much better with Ted Lasso wandering the field.
FIFA 23 will be released in full on Friday, September 30.
