Sunrise presenter Katie Brown said: ‘I’m not angry… I’m just so sad. You are the best of the best Kochie. Congratulations, we will miss you so much.’

Kochie told Daily Mail Australia that he has yet to check all of his text messages, but he confirmed that he has received one from his other longtime co-host Mel Doyle, Sam’s predecessor.

“I just checked because I have a lot of messages, I saw one from Mel and I’m sure there will be a lot of others in the list, but I’ve spoken to a lot of journalists and done interviews. ,’ he said.

In 2021, Samantha quickly addressed Natalie Barr’s promotion to co-host following her departure from the show.

She criticized Natalie on Twitter at the time for continuing to speak about her to the press three months after taking over as anchor of Seven’s breakfast show.

‘Look, I’m out. Nat always wanted the job… and she finally got it. She should just go ahead and enjoy it – and forget about me (even though I’m unforgettable),’ she wrote.

Meanwhile, Kochie struggled to hold back tears during his farewell speech on Monday.

“I’ve loved every minute of it and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished here over the last 21 years,” Kochie told viewers.

“I started here before Facebook, before Instagram, before Twitter and iPhones. That’s how old I am.

“I’ve been privileged to have so many great adventures, to meet so many different people and to have so many moments of history in the making.”

Natalie told her co-host, “The show wouldn’t be what it is today without you. It was a great ride and we will be celebrating for the next two weeks.”
