Ferrari’s first official trailer: Adam Driver stars as car magnate Enzo Ferrari in the highly anticipated biopic starring Penelope Cruz as his wife Laura
The Ferrari trailer was released on Wednesday.
Adam Driver is almost unrecognizable as he disappeared into character.
The 38-year-old movie star plays car magnate Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the globally-loved luxury car brand that bears his name.
Adam plays a white-haired Enzo on the brink of his 60th birthday, the time when he was known as ‘il Grande Vecchio’ – ‘the Great Old Man’.
In his younger days, when he became a pioneering businessman after a career as a racing driver, he was known as ‘il Commendatore’ – ‘the commander’.
He looks dapper in a perfectly tailored three-piece suit while standing by a racetrack.
Parable: Adam plays a white-haired Enzo on the verge of his 60th birthday, the time when he was known as “il Grande Vecchio” – “the great old man”
In the film, Enzo struggles with issues in his personal life as the Mille Miglia, an iconic Italian car race, approaches.
Enzo’s son Dino, who would succeed him as head of the family business, had died of muscular dystrophy a year earlier
Simply titled Ferrari, the film is written and directed by Michael Man, whose work includes such films as The Last Of The Mohicans, Heat, and Public Enemies.
Adam leads a star-studded cast that includes Penelope Cruz as Enzo’s wife Laura, to whom he was notoriously unfaithful throughout his life.
Shailene Woodley stars as Enzo’s long-time mistress Lina Lardi, the mother of his son Piero, who is now vice-chairman of Ferrari.
Three hunks have been cast as drivers: Patrick Dempsey as Piero Taruffi, Gabriel Leone as Alfonso de Portago and Jack O’Connell as Peter Collins.
The film, which has been shooting in Italy since mid-August, will be released sometime in the latter part of 2023.
Adam is no stranger to playing dynastic Italian business magnates, having impressed last year with the role of Maurizio Gucci opposite Lady Gaga in House Of Gucci.
Stunning: Adam’s signature look, pictured last month at the New York Film Festival premiere of White Noise, is a far cry from his Enzo Ferrari ensemble
