Ferne McCann reveals why she quit her ITV show after her daughter asked question ‘that changed everything’
Ferne McCann has revealed the heartbreaking reason why she is quitting her ITV show My Family And Me – and it’s all because of a question her daughter Sunday asked her.
Earlier this month, the reality TV personality, 34, confirmed that the next series of her long-running reality series will be her last.
She is best known for her regular appearances on The Only Way Is Essex and has documented her journey from pregnancy and single parenthood to engaged mother-of-two in ITVBe shows First Time Mum and My Family And Me.
But now she is ready to pull the plug after making the ‘tough decision’ with businessman fiance Lorri Haines and six-year-old daughter Sunday, her child with ex-partner Arthur Collins.
She told me The Sunday mirror: ‘The point where everything changed was when Sunday actually said to me, ‘Am I famous?’ Some of her friends had seen her in an advertisement.

“And I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know…’ It made me uncomfortable because I don’t want her to feel like she’s different…
“After that it felt like a completely different game, so I left and figured out what I was feeling, and it felt like the right time to stop.”
She added that although Sunday had been on the show since she was born, she had “never really” watched it and was “unaware” of the situation — until that question.
Ferne confirmed the news earlier this month that the show would not return to her 2.9 million Instagram followers.
She wrote: ‘After an incredible 13 series I have made the very difficult decision that this series of @fernemyfamandme will be my last.
‘Where do I start? First, by saying a huge thank you to everyone who watched my show and went on a family trip with us.
“This show has been such an incredible part of my life for the past seven years and what a ride it has been filming from Sunday’s pregnancy to now.
“Your support and loyalty to me and my family have lifted me up more at times than you will ever know. Thank you.’

Ferne, who is also a parent to 14-month-old son Finty with Lorri, added: “From the day I started filming, I poured my heart and soul into the series.
“I really feel like I’ve laughed, cried, loved you and lived with you, sharing all the ups and downs.
“This decision was not easy, but it feels like this is the right time for change.
“I made this decision with my children (especially Sunday, who has been on this entire journey with me) in mind.
‘They are my absolute priority and Sunday is now at an age where she is very much her own little person and I want her to go out and forge her own path.’
“I am eternally grateful to everyone who saw the show, supported us and came through it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.’
Shortly after, Lorri showed his support and praised his wife-to-be by addressing the comments.
He wrote: “Awww, it sure has been a fun few years! I enjoyed filming with you and everyone involved.

The show, which started as Ferne McCann: First Time Mum and initially followed her raising the firstborn on Sunday, has run for 13 series and 7 years.
The show was retitled in 2023 when Ferne welcomed her second daughter Finty.
Ferne shot to fame in 2013 when she joined the cast of The Only Way Is Essex for its ninth series.
She has since appeared on Celebs Go Dating and I’m A Celebrity, the latter finishing in third place.
