A second fire, called the Eaton Fire, broke out about 30 miles (48 kilometers) inland in Altadena, near Pasadena, growing to 1,000 acres from 200 acres in a few hours, according to Cal Fire.

Mandy Moore and her three children evacuated their Pasadena home as the catastrophic fire continued to spread westward.

The This Is Us star, 40, says the family and their pets are safe.

A third fire, called the Hurst Fire, had also broken out in Sylmar, in the San Fernando Valley northwest of Los Angeles, prompting the evacuation of some local residents.
