UFC flyweight Montana De La Rosa has called for changes to the women’s uniforms in the organization following a wardrobe mishap in her most recent fight against Tatiana Suarez.

De La Rosa came up short in his return to the sport last weekend at UFC Vegas 70, ending up losing via second-round submission to Suárez.

However, the 28-year-old experienced her top nearly exposing her breast during a takedown and took to Instagram after the event to complain about the issue.

“This is definitely a wardrobe issue,” she wrote on Instagram. “Hopefully the UFC and Venum Women/Venum will fix this.”

This comes just a week after UFC star Jessica Andrade blamed her loss to Erin Blanchfield in Las Vegas on a similar issue.

UFC flyweight Montana De La Rosa has called for changes to the women’s uniforms in the organization following a wardrobe mishap in her most recent fight against Tatiana Suarez.

The 28-year-old experienced her top nearly exposing her breast during a takedown and took to Instagram after the event to complain about the issue.

Andrade suffered a second-round submission loss via rear-naked choke, but says she “lost focus” because her breast “pulled out” as Blanchfield attempted a takedown.

“This is not an excuse, but when she came in for the takedown, I lost my concentration,” Andrade said.

‘Because when he moved in, he put his shoulder just under my shirt and my chest slid all the way off. I lost focus and forgot to counterattack.

‘All I could think about was my chest. When I used my hand to push my breast back on top, that’s when she was able to take me down. However, it is all part of the game. It is not an excuse. She really did have a great game plan.

It was not on purpose. We have to be prepared for everything. I should have been prepared to let my breast come out if it did come out. It has been shown in so many places before. I shouldn’t even worry about it.

Fight fans echoed De La Rosa’s call for better-designed tops for competing female athletes.

‘In all seriousness, they need a better design. I see how this could affect Montana’s defense/decision making,” wrote one Twitter user.

‘I was definitely thinking while watching in real time that I had a well-underperforming sports bra/top. Women shouldn’t have to worry about their breasts being exposed while fighting. I have jerseys available, but the ENTIRE UFC team should put on a performance worthy of a professional athlete,” said another.

De La Rosa has asked that the UFC and the apparel partner look into the issue.

De La Rosa’s complaint comes just a week after a similar incident with Jessica Andrade

Venum replaced Reebok as the official apparel partner of the UFC in 2021 and, until recently, hasn’t had many complaints about the construction of its outfits.

Women who compete in the UFC have the option of wearing a full rash guard or a sports bra style top.

So far, Venum and the UFC have not commented on Andrade and De La Rosa’s complaints about the upgrade to their kit.
