“I am thankful that the injured SAPD officer is stable and I pray for her full recovery soon.”

Officers arrived at the apartment around 3 a.m. Sunday after the shooter’s girlfriend was attacked by him, police said.

“When officers entered the apartment, (the shooter) was lying on the bed with a gun next to him, and he began shooting at the officer,” Police Chief William McManus told reporters.

SWAT officers later entered the apartment and “observed the suspect deceased,” but McManus could not say whether the shooter had injured himself or been hit by police grenades.

Police have not yet identified the injured officer, but the chief said she has been on the force for less than three years.
