Awkward detail is exposed in female-only spaces in Perth car park: ‘This is ridiculous’
A popular comedian has criticised a car park for making its women’s parking spaces wider than other parking spaces.
Choccy Dan, who runs the YouTube channel Misfit Minds, shared a video on TikTok on Wednesday after visiting the Pier Street car park in Perth.
“This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen: a woman parking,” he said.
He pointed to the bright pink sign with an arrow pointing upward, indicating that the area was for women only.
He then pointed to a blue parking sign at another nearby parking lot, which can also be used by other motorists.
Choccy Dan decided to lie down on the ground to see if the women’s parking spaces were wider.
“It’s at least 20 percent wider,” he said.
He criticised the width difference and called Perth a ‘sexist city’.

“I think it’s disgusting, it’s sexist. The City of Perth needs to be held accountable for their actions,” he said.
The video, which has now been viewed more than 300,000 times, immediately struck a chord with social media users.
Some defended the measure, saying the extra space was necessary.
“It’s meant for strollers and it’s closer to the entrance so it’s a little safer for mothers and children,” one person wrote.
Others felt the parking spaces discriminated against other drivers.
“I totally agree with you it’s sexist, not anymore in this day and age in the city of Perth,” one person wrote.
Some wondered why the parking spaces were labeled if they were meant to protect female customers.
“Shouldn’t those creeps just know where to stay now that they know exactly where to park,” added a third.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted the City of Perth for comment.
In 2016, the council introduced a parking lot specifically for women. In the parking garage at the shopping center, 28 parking spaces are reserved specifically for women.
The parking garage has a total of 700 parking spaces.
Martin Mileham, former CEO of the City of Perth, said at the time that the car parks have been fitted with brighter lighting, emergency buttons and are located near exits.
The council said the measure had been taken to protect the safety of customers from anti-social behaviour.

Motorists were quick to respond by citing women’s privileges and questioning whether these popular spots impact the elderly, disabled or parents with strollers.
Others stressed that the safety of women using closed parking lots after dark is a major concern.
