Horrific moment female NYPD is beaten bloody in broad daylight by repeat offender before her partner jumps in to make wild arrest

A female New York Police Department officer is left with a bloodied face after a repeat offender assaulted her in broad daylight, gruesome footage shows.

Ernst Delma, 41, attacked the unnamed officer on a sidewalk in the Bronx around 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, the NYPD told DailyMail.com.

A department spokesman said police were attempting to arrest Delma on Randall Avenue when he “struck an officer in the face.”

“The officer suffered cuts to her lips and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition,” authorities said.

Video footage captured by a bystander shows a male NYPD officer pinning Delma to the ground as he tries to escape.

Ernst Delma, 41, attacked the unnamed officer on a sidewalk in the Bronx around 7:10 p.m. Thursday, the NYPD told DailyMail.com

An NYPD spokesman said police were attempting to arrest Delma on Randall Avenue when he “struck an officer in the face.”

The scene is so chaotic that Delma loses his pants and exposes himself to people on the street, before being handcuffed.

Meanwhile, the female officer he hit can be seen on her knees, bloodied and dazed, as a bystander holds her back from falling.

The officer appeared visibly shaken as blood poured from her nose and a man pulled her up from the ground.

Delma attacked him after she tried to intervene during an argument he had with a group of children.

The attacker, who lives on the Bronx Street where he carried out the attack, is accused of assaulting a police officer and obstructing law enforcement.

According to New York police, he was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for evaluation and the investigation is ongoing.

Delma was on probation at the time of the attack and has a long list of previous arrests, including for assault and burglary, officials said.

This comes after figures earlier this year revealed that officers in the Big Apple are increasingly being targeted by criminals.

In the first nine months of 2023, more than 4,000 police officers were injured by violent suspects.

NYPD statistics show the total number of use-of-force incidents is expected to be around 5,400.

In 2022, that number was around 4,700, an increase of 20 percent compared to 2021, when the number was around 3,950.
