‘I asked for a promotion… my boss demanded sex’: Female firefighter reveals the shocking harassment that forced her to quit her ‘dream job’ when bosses failed to kick her abuser out

  • Tracy Lamb says she couldn’t stay with Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service
  • She claims she was targeted by a manager as an intern, who then harassed her

A female firefighter was harassed by a manager who demanded sexual favors in exchange for a promotion.

Tracy Lamb had to give up her ‘dream job’ after working for the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service for four years when bosses couldn’t evict her abuser.

She told ITV News that as a trainee she was targeted by a manager. After that, he continued to sexually harass her.

She said, “When I asked him about developing my career, he turned around and said, ‘Well, you know what the currency is here, it’s [sexual favours]’.

And this was also said in front of other firefighters. I’d asked for two final signatures to get my development folder done and that would have made me a full-fledged firefighter.

Ms Lamb said the officer was only demoted and moved elsewhere following a police investigation, but was later allowed to return

“He got up, followed me, and I heard him take off his pants.”

She described turning around and realizing that he had exposed himself. When she complained, the officer was cleared of wrongdoing.

He was only demoted and moved elsewhere after a police investigation, but was later allowed to return.

Mrs Lamb said: ‘I wouldn’t tell another woman to raise your hand and say this is what’s going on. No one in their right mind would do that, because it was hell. I lost my dream job.’

Mark Jones, from the agency, said “disciplinary policies” are being reviewed.
