Federico Valverde ‘PUNCHED Villareal winger Alex Baena’ after Real Madrid’s 3-2 defeat on Saturday night, with the Uruguay international ‘reacting to comments about his unborn son’

  • Real Madrid lost 3-2 to Villareal on Saturday to take further ground against Barça
  • Midfielder Federico Valverde ‘hit Alex Baena afterwards’ in the parking lot
  • Baena has been accused of making negative comments about Valverde’s family

Real Madrid midfielder Federcico Valverde ‘punched Alex Baena’ on Saturday night after a 3-2 defeat to Villareal.

Notifications in ESPN suggest the Uruguay international confronted Baena in the post-match Bernabeu car park following alleged comments made by the 21-year-old about Valverde’s family earlier this year.

The outlet suggests Baena told Valverde to ‘cry, because your child will not be born’ in a previous Copa del Rey match, after the Madrid star’s partner believed she had lost a child to pregnancy. Further examination revealed that the baby was healthy.

This has been confirmed by the international of Uruguay Marka his “aggression” took place, saying he was responding to new similar comments during Saturday’s game, although Baena denies this.

The Villareal man tweeted after the game: ‘Very happy with the impressive victory of the team on a stage like the Santiago Bernabeu, but at the same time very sad about the aggression I experienced after the race.

The Villareal star has been accused of making comments about Valverde’s family, which he denies

‘[I am] surprised by what is being said about my person. It’s not true at all what I said [comments about Valverde’s family].’

ESPN also reports that Villareal has spoken to Spanish police and will let Baena decide whether or not to press charges.

Barring any off-field incidents, Real’s loss on Saturday continued a season of ups and downs for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

They beat Barcelona 4-0 to reach the Copa del Rey final last week and are still in the Champions League but have conceded further ground against Xavi’s side in LaLiga.

Barca are now 12 points clear at the top of the table, but will have a chance to extend their lead when they face Girona in their fixture on Monday.

Carlo Ancelotti insisted his players be back to their best for Wednesday’s Champions League game

“It was a difficult game, we had chances and we could have made it 3-1 and slowed down the pace of the game, but that didn’t happen,” Ancelotti said after the defeat to Movistar Plus.

“We could have defended better. Frankly, it was difficult for us to be 100% motivated, that’s quite normal.’

Speaking of their next game, a Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea, the manager said: “We have no doubt, Wednesday is a different story.

“The temperature has dropped a bit today, but it will be back to full strength on Wednesday.”
