Fears item sold at Bunnings could KILL young children

A common item sold in Bunnings stores across the country has been pulled from shelves over fears the item could injure or kill young children.

Product Safety Australia (PSA) has issued an urgent recall for the Inkbird digital food thermometer, which is sold at Bunnings Warehouse chains across Australia, both in-store and online.

The model number of the thermometer is BG-HH2C.

According to the warning, the product does not meet the mandatory standards for articles containing button or coin cell batteries.

Customers are urged to stop using the product and keep it out of reach of children. It can be returned to Bunnings for a full refund.

“The battery packaging has not been tested as required by the mandatory safety standard and may not be child resistant,” PSA’s warning said.

‘Young children are at risk of choking, severe internal burns or death if they come into contact with the button cell batteries and swallow them or put them into their bodies.’

Serious or fatal injuries can occur in two hours or less.

Customers are urged to stop using the product and keep it out of reach of children. It can be returned to Bunnings for a full refund.

The thermometers were sold to customers between November 2022 and July 4, 2024.
