The caption of the video read: ‘I apologize if I offended anyone for stepping outside of community guidelines.’

Users on TikTok expressed serious concerns about Joy, as her usually cheerful and hopeful demeanor was masked by a hostage-like, anxious nature.

“Sarah joy, I’m coming to pick you up now,” one user responded, fearing the content creator.

“Okay, now I’m so worried,” another commented.

‘She looks terrified. I hope she is okay and not caught,” said a third.

‘Look to the side, someone else was standing there. She was visibly scared,” one user commented, referring to Joy’s awkward and nervous body language.

The Mineral County Emergency Management Office told DailyMail.com that they have been inundated with calls about Sarah Joy, concerned for her well-being, and that the Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the situation.

They also said the only way to contact Joy was through her post office box in Fort Ashby. The office said they tried calling the post office but it was closed.

Another escaped Amisk TikTok creator, called The Misfit Amish, claimed that someone made direct contact with Sarah Joy and that she is physically safe. However, the creator said that Joy has “asked everyone to please not call a welfare check, it would put her in danger at this point.”

Joy has given her audience a glimpse into her daily life: she sews her own clothes, makes home-cooked meals, plays the guitar and jokes about her abnormal upbringing.

In addition to her light-hearted content, she has also exposed the dark side of Amish culture, citing the domestic and sexual abuse crisis in her community, violent encounters she has experienced firsthand, and the mental health epidemic of Amish women who have no escape.

Violence against women in the Amish community is no secret. DailyMail.com previously reported on Shawn Cranston’s arrest for the alleged murder of pregnant Rebekah Byler in her home earlier this month.

Although Cranston’s neighbors were shocked by the double murder charges, they were still hesitant to comment on the situation.

‘We like to keep things between us. We don’t talk to protect the parents and the husband,” one Amish told DailyMail.com.
